I miss the mornings in Negril

    Ahhh, mornings in Jamaica.

It's just about good enough, even if I don't do anything else.

I never use an alarm clock .....(of course).

I can Just put on my trunks, grab a towel,
and head cross de road for a swim.
Water is flat, folks just waking up,
    hotel workers reporting for duty.

The smell in the air of Blue Mountain Coffee!

Love, love walking out into the kinda cool water.

Waist deep. I take that first plunge/dive !

There is a funny sound when you first dive in the water,
the bubbles and water mixed together....Man I love that.

I do about 2-3 strokes under water, looking around, then come back up.

Glance back at the dining area on beach front.

Yep, those folks eating B-fast haven't moved.

    I wouldn't either if I was them.

So, I just sit in the shallow, drift a little and do a few laps.

Soon, those itty, bitty little Silver fish, about 40-50 start coming around you,
Hmmm, I bet they are looking for breakfast too.
I make a move with my hand and all at once,
    they shoot away.
"Hey little buddies, you forgot me!!

Finished....., I check out the seating arrangements on my way back to my room.
"No Coffee?? No Bacon Omelet?? Thee waitress asked.
What a cute accent J-ladies have.

I'll be back! with a grand smile.

I wash off the sea water, change into shorts and t-shirt.
Hit the feet with bug spray.
(once, early, the little critters were at my toes, even early like 9:00 A.M.)

When the staff see me coming, the reach for the coffee pot.
"is it hot, hot? You know how I like it.
I will wait for a fresh pot if it's just warm.

    Take time.

In the morning, once I have my seat at a nice table (sometimes the bar)
wild horses couldn't move me for hours.

Kick back, look/day dream all around you.
    The water, the colors.
Make images out of the scattered cloud formation.
"Hey!! ....There's Don Quixote"!!..on his horse!!

I swear, I stared at a tree 3-4 days straight, until
I changed my B-fast spots by day 4.

Once, at a new spot, I forgot to say "crisp" bacon....it came chewy.

    After that, ......they know.

Pancakes and bacon, been eating that on Saturday and Sunday mornings
while watching cartoons since the early 60's.
    Why change?
Well........maybe for that Cheese Omelet with bacon and toast.

My god, how/why does Breakfast taste sooooo much better in Jamaica???

Whenever I return back to the States, people asked what I did.

I tell them I ate Breakfast at this cool little Boutique Hotel on the beach.
They get a funny look in their eyes. ????

Oh well, I say....to each his own.

All of a sudden you've been there a week and you haven't even looked at your list of all the things you promised yourself you would do this reach. Then another week goes by and you wonder how so many people get the strength to walk the entire beach each day. But when you get back to the mainland you don't sit staring off into space dreaming about the trip here or there or fishing or running out to the reef, what you daydream about is the perfect breeze, sand on your feet and how you don't care about a single thing. And also about staring at the ocean, or a tree.

    Markospoon,
Awesome post! The imagery is amazing, I feel like I'm right there.

    Irine,
It takes me a week just to completely chill out and relaxed, can't spend only a week there.

Markospoon, I know exactly what you mean. I spend a month at a time there and always say I will "do something" while there. Unfortunately the sand gravity affects me quite badly and I find myself unable to move very far - LOL I also order bacon - well cooked. I can't stand chewy bacon.

I'm torn between a hot cup of coffee at cliff edge at Catcha, before everyone else gets up....The sound of the staff setting the tables, jingling silverware, and the ladies talking about their evening before.....or waking up early on the beach, calm water, slight breeze and the staff raking the beach. It looks so nice you never want to be the first one to leave prints. A pre breakfast walk with no hustle, and the occasional jogger saying "mornin". All I get here are honking horns and people racing to get to work. I'd be lucky to get a grunt from someone passing. What a difference a few thousand miles makes

    Most of my mornings:

Make a cup of coffee with Rum Cream. Cook porridge or fry an egg sandwich in coconut oil or make some grits.

Log on and check the email. Look out across the valley.

Wait for the crew to show up for work.

    That sounds great Capt.D,
But, most mornings I go to work.
I wonder if I will get a slight buzz from the Rum Cream,
    will the boss notice?
Will I be able to perform my duties to
    the best of my ability?
    questions, questions.
