    Break wall

A few years back I read an article about the building of a rather large break wall in the ocean off 7 mile beach to help with beach erosion. I remember thinking I wouldn't want to be visiting when they are constructing it. Does anyone know what happened to this plan - or if it's still in the works?

    Hi Irine,
    I remember that plan too.

    I'm not sure what happened,
but someone with knowledge will respond.

I believe the plan was scrapped due to too many peeps didn't like it.

There were many reasons it was cancelled. Not a single reason, but there was much vocal opposition.

Oh great, I didn't like the idea of reef damage, let alone the eyesore.

    Rob,

Has anything like this ever been looked into? I've seen these in use in Cayman right off the beach, gives some extra environment for fish and helps with wave action as well.

I'd love to see the Government get behind this type of project -
too much of the reef is damaged & this would make Ja. more of a dive destination
