    Re: Rum Punch

The problem I find with a gallon of Rum Punch is the straw never reaches the bottom. Seriously I would get a little tired of a gallon, and would use my own fruits and juices so I can mix things up a bit. Some fresh fruit from the beach guy goes a long way with this. I make my version of a rum sangria, depending on what fruits look best that day.

That all sounds good but I still prefer buying my rum and D. Coke from Mikey's shack and sipping it on the beach from my bubba mug all day (tipping Tony/Paul at the WS bar to keep fresh ice in it, of course)

Milton at Tony's Hut gave me his recipe for rum punch but didn't provide the proportions. I made it one time and after much sampling figured it out. The ingredients in the video are almost the same but Milton used JB overproof and Myers rum. I added some Cocomania coconut rum as well.

    My rum punch recipe!

Add 150 mL of tap water to a glass.
Put glass in that tiny freezer compartment until frozen.
Squeeze a bit of lime on top of the ice.
Add 250 mL of Appleton Reserve.
Enjoy all the while waiting for the Jamaican ice cube to free itself and float on the top - its a big moment that I like to enjoy at least 4x/day.

Ha, not exactly rum punch. My recipe is lots of ice, aged Appleton and ginger beer. Shake until very cold, keep adding ice as it melts.

    Dedicated to Mortimer Johnson RIP:

I was introduced to an awesome rum punch / fruit salad many years ago in Negril and I will do my best to recite it here. Depending on how many people will partake dictates the amounts.

Fresh pineapple, grapefruits, oranges, bananas, pawpaw, mango, watermelon.

Juice of two grapefruit and five oranges

Sweet condensed milk, strawberry syrup, Appleton Estate Special.

Peel and separate fruit pieces into a large bowl trying to utilize the juice that is created in the process. Pour in Appleton, juices and mix in the sweet milk and Strawberry syrup in large enough amounts to create a punch within the fruit and let the fruit absorb the rum. Obviously the amount of rum will affect the flavor, sometimes too much is too much. Chill in icebox for a couple hours until really cold. Now you can either eat it, drink it or both. Especially refreshing after a couple puffs on the peace pipe!!
