    Whaaagwan on Wednesdays?

This year I happen to be arriving in Negril on a Wednesday and on my 70th birthday at the same time. I tried to find happenings on the Calendar and Entertainment but couldn't figure out how to use it.
That's what I get for being a computer guy, Rob outsmarted me again!

I am looking for something like music or maybe even a free drink or meal on my birthday.

    Can anyone help?

I've been in Negril many times during my birthday, I never saw anyone offering free drinks or meals.

Or, are you asking for someone to take you out for dinner and drinks?

Ha Ha HarryS! You know, I never even thought about how that sounded until I just re-read it. Offers? Anyone? Didn't think so. No, I am a pretty solitary type of guy who is well comfortable paying my own way but I rarely turn down something for free either!

I am staying in a house with a good friend, Rasta Freddy, and I was looking for some good music and maybe some fresh fish to eat. I just don't know Negril well enough to know what goes on Wednesday nights. I spend lots of time in Jamaica but rarely in Negril.

    Any help?

    Hey Accompong,
hope you're doing good and Happy B-Day when it comes.
I arrive on a Wednesday too.
Most of the Barmaids/tenders are a good source of Info.
    I just stroll and talk/inquire.

If you go down by the river, there was and still maybe the local Fish market.
They will weigh and sell the catch of the day.

I spend some days down at that area of the beach
and watch the local boats come and go during the day.

Not sure what time they close/stop selling.
Then, go over to "Qualities Restaurant" place across the road
    from Canoe.
He will cook up anything you bring him.
(So I heard) never tried it.

But, I have heard rave reviews about Qualities on this board.

    Hi Markospoon,

Yes, I have tried Qualities and liked it alot. In fact, I wrote about eating there in a Trip Report last winter. http://negril.com/forum/showthread.p...noun-or-a-verb

Health problems kind of keep me from rambling aimlessly around like I used to years ago. I am more of a "go to a place I like and hang out around there" kind of person.

I am just looking for a destination to hang out for good music and/or good food right now. My good friend Rasta Freddy eats only fish and vegetables so that narrows it down and I know a lot of good places for that but maybe a place to eat near a place to listen to music would be what I need.

I may look you up this time. I know where you stay and I stay out across from Primrose at Y Worry Cottage while in Negril before heading to Treasure Beach and back home in Accompong Town.

Drifters has the Music and food:
    There is the road,
    Bar/music area,
    then the food place,
    then the Beach.

    All in one place.

Ya...except that Drifters isn't open at the moment...and definitely don't have shows on Wednesdays during slow season.

Ha...I was wondering about that free drink or meal in Jamaica!
I know you know, it's the birthday boy/girl that buys the drink and food...if you're Jamaican and/or it's your birthday in Jamaica!!
But, if we see you on your B'day...we'll be very happy to buy you that drink and cheer to many more (birthdays not drinks...well, maybe drinks also...lol).

October is a tougher time to find live music, particularly on a Wednesday...Pushcart offers music during their dinner hours.

    Hi Lisa!

I will be there in November. It has always been my traveling policy that I don't publish actual dates anymore as I am not looking for a crowd (I like to blend in but you know how difficult that is )

I am hoping to see you and Rob while I am there so perhaps we can meet either on my birthday or another time during November as I am there most of the month. Even though I don't drink much anymore, I would be happy to drink a free one from you!

So, is Drifters open in November and do they have live music on Wednesdays? This would be exactly what I am looking for. In fact, I might bring Marshall with me as he is a music lover of the Drifters era of music.
