JohnNYC, Idle Awhile does look amazing. I’m sure you enjoyed it. We have previously stayed at Swept Away and I think Issa family owns both? Similar styling and vibe. It is definitely out of our range of what we want to spend for this trip though. Some future trip maybe...

Your endorsements of Treehouse are so helpful rocknrollfarmer and Ras Walleye! Breakfast sounds delish...and love the idea of an on-site restaurant even if we only eat breakfast there.

Can anyone comment on the shade situation at Treehouse? Is it lacking or did you find it adequate?

We stayed at Treehouse this past August, the property is beautiful, the breakfast is amazing, can I say Amazing?! and its included! most of the staff were friendly, or rather when they knew you were friendly, they responded in kind. We had a fantastic time and would stay there again, just waiting for the Groupon

The big advantage of Nirvana over Treehouse is the beach, but in May, I doubt Treehouse will be crowded and you should have no problem finding a good spot. If your budget ever allows, the Owner's Villa at Nirvana is the bomb.

I guess I never answered the question, we never had a problem with getting shade or sun, the security on the beach was terrific and if we didn't have chairs with an umbrella, they would get us one. Even with all the people being bused in, there was never a problem. We would fill up our ice buckets, bring our drinks down to the beach and just enjoy the ocean and people watching!

Have you checked out the villas that are between Country Country and Margareittaville. My mind is drawing a blank on the name. We met some people last yr that let us check them out. We were staying at Country Country. They were nice.

Crystal Waters is between Country Country and Margaritaville. Spacious suites, AND the housekeeper will cook breakfast and dinner for you. It's your kitchen, but she will shop for and prepare the meals you order. Very reasonable food costs. It feels like you are a guest in someone's Jamaican home. They prepare the evening meal, leave it on the stove to be eaten anytime. You may decide to go to Sunnyside and watch the sun go down, take a lazy stroll back up the beach, stop at Tony's Hut for one more, come back to your suite and have a delicious meal, while still in your bathing suit!! Talk about relaxing!

You will be given your own palapa at the beach for your entire stay.

Nehru is the owner, always around watching over things (he lives directly across the highway), an extremely well ran operation.

There is no bar on site, but, Treehouse is just two doors away, a great little mix and mingle bar/restaurant after the sun goes down.

Crystal Waters is supposed to be great, I'd love to stay in the unit right on the beach. They are usually completely booked up when I've tried to get a cottage there. The only thing I don't like is the lack of natural shade and it's proximity to Margaritaville.

Crystal Waters looks nice, but for the price I would rather return to Nirvana in the Garden Studio we saw last year.

I think we might be going with Treehouse. You all make it sound pretty good, thanks for all your input! And their price for our travel dates will be hard to beat...especially because it includes that yummy sounding breakfast...

    sigh...soon come!

I'm guessing you haven't stayed in the Owner's Villa at Nirvana
