Re: Scooter Rental
I worked in a M/C dealership for 20+ years. Been riding for 45 so hears my biased 2 cents worth. I love biking in Ja. Its organized chaos, but in a good way. First off if your getting a scooter, I ask, how much experience do you have riding? This is not a place to learn. On the other hand, I love adventures but want to live to tell about them. Scooters are more risky. Small wheels and Jamaican pot holes are not a good mix. Enduros or larger bikes are much better.
Make sure the horn works!, check the brakes, tire condition and PSI. Inspect it well. If he doesnt have a air gauge walk away from the rental place as he doesnt care. Driving on the left messes with you. The first time you get into a hairy situation, your instinct will have you going to the right because that is what we do in the states which puts you right into traffic. Been there, did that...
I rent every time I go to Ja. Go out for a sunrise drive, no traffic. I have been out exploring and find such beautiful areas its hard to describe. Get away from the tourist areas and its safer driving. I've always felt safe on the backroads, but I also use caution and leave most my essentials at the hotel.
