Is the situation bad ? I.e. Road blocks etc ??

Mick...I would use a professional "known" driver as you may get stopped and searched more than once in a regular local taxi.
Some of the searches may be long/intense and you don't know who may be in that car with you...I wouldn't risk it for a few dollars/pounds.
