Hello. I’m inclined to stay at country country, but I’m worried about the noise (Margaritaville close by). We’ll probably be there close to dream weekend. My second choice would be coco la palm. Haven’t stayed at either before. I kinda prefer the look of CC rooms online and the smaller property idea, but with no glass windows at CC I’m concerned about the noise. Any thoughts?
Hello Isiala. My husband and I just stayed at Country Country for a few nights last week. I did not notice any noise from Margaritaville during our stay. We have never stayed at CCLP, but we did stay right next door to it last year, at Sandy Haven. Country Country is one of our favorite places we've ever stayed on the beach. Actually, I feel that we would hear noise from CCLP more from Sandy Haven than we ever heard from Margaritaville last week. The CCLP noise (mostly music and people talking) was never an issue for us and it gets quiet fairly early. If it were me, I would go to CC. CCLP doesn't appeal to me much as it is a larger property and a lot of activity going on there, so in my opinion CC is a quieter place. Dream Weekend may be a whole other story though...
Thanks, aGregory. I’m really hoping someone who’s been there during dream week/weekend (ATI) responds. I’ll be with schoolage kids at the time. Going to coco la palm will be ~$300 more right now based on availability. I was hoping to save that money and do some excursions
Having stayed at both, I much prefer Country Country to CCLP. CCLP lacks character in my eyes, leans toward a more "mature" crowd, and has too many rooms for my taste. Country Country has added more rooms, though I did not notice a huge change compared to days past. You will get some noise from Margaritaville on occasion, however my biggest noise gripe there is from the kitchen in the morning. So ask for a room that is not next to the restaurant. I am also a fan of the included breakfast, which is quite good with a pot of coffee included. Both are in decent locations on the beach.
As far as Dream weekend, I have stayed on the beach during Dream and both places will be close to normal as a lot of the Dream folks stay elsewhere. Traffic at night will suck, so keep this in mind when deciding to go out at night. A good workaround is to take a boat up to the West End for dinner/sunset, and take a cab back to the beach. If traffic is too crazy, get out and walk back to your hotel.

Very helpful information. I have even been thinking of cancelling and just spending all of our time on the eastern side of the island. But if you feel it will be mostly normal,perhaps we’ll just go for it. I’m looking at 7/29-8/3, so hopefully even if it’s bad, it won’t be for too long. BTW, with all the crowds, will it be a good idea to avoid major “excursions?” If we do any (perhaps YS Falls), we’ll probably go early that week and earlier in the day. Sound reasonable? Finally, how long will it take to walk to best in the west from CC?.........looking forward to some good jerk chicken!
What/when is Dream Week?
It's Jamaica's largest celebratory week.
Emancipation Day is Aug. 1, 2018 and Independence Day is Aug. 6...many Jamaicans take the week off to vacation and party.
Dream Weekend has been called ATI and RTI over the years..it depends on who is mainly sponsoring the events, ie. Appleton, Red Stripe etc.
Dream Weekend is a party in Negril that brings in Jamaicans from around Jamaica and tourists worldwide...it's an all inclusive event and you purchase the appropriate ticket to the events/shows you want to join.
It is one if the busiest times in Negril!!
