    Reggae Marathon anyone?

It has been a while since I posted on here. Dear husband just gave me the green light to run the Reggae Marathon in December. I am over the moon excited. Any other boardies running that day? The reviews on the web for the 10k, half marathon and the full marathon are really good. Running in the heat could be a challenge for this WI girl, but considering the start at 5:15 am, hoping the suffering isn't too bad.
I'll avoid alcohol for a full week + leading up to the race as alcohol can be very dehydrating. Marathons are hard, but you know what just might be harder.......landing in Jamaica the day before the race and not partaking in a celebratory Red Stripe when I get off the plane. But, something tells me the Red Stripe at the finish line might be the best one ever.

I was reading your post and imagining how hard a marithon in the heat would be. Then you mentioned a week with no alcohol and I n army fell out of my chair! Now I know I’d never be able to do it!
Wait! Maybe if you ran in front of me, with a cooler of Red Stipe on a wagon....

I've run the 10k three years in a row and will be doing it again this year. I'm around 55 mins for a 10k and I wouldn't want to be out there much longer than that. It gets hot. It's a great event. The pasta party the night before is a good time and so is the festival at the finish.
It really is wonderful hitting the finish, grabbing a coconut, a redstripe and heading straight to the sea.

I too will be doing the 10K again for the 5th year. I definitely don't stop drinking for a week before. In fact I'm usually out the night before having a good time. Unless you're trying to do it in a certain time (which I'm not), I go on with my usual habits before the race. I do love the pasta party.

My wife and I will be running again this year. We have been running the 10K every other year. This will be our 3rd race
I'm training for the half Marathon, but i will decide on that closer to race.
I haven't been drinking the night before but after the race for sure. I don't like when my blood alcohol level drops too low.
the pasta party is fun and great food. The party after is fun talking with your fellow survivors.
The only tip I can give you is to learn to drink while running and don't pass up water stops.

Hmmm. You guys have me thinking I maybe should drop the distance down to the 1/2 or the 10k. Might be the smart thing to do. After I finish, I will either be glad or will need another trip to do the full. Sounds like a win win to me!!

My daughter ran the 1/2 marathon in 2016 at 27 years old and told me that once the sun came up, it became a real hard challenge to finish the 1/2.... (like for her, I'll be there to cheer you on... lol)

    Go Bills!
