    Re: One Love Bus

I know i write long posts sometimes but, Just put yourself in somebody elses shoes before speaking, sometimes even before thinking and your question or doubts will be answered

My friend and my first trip we went to the RIU Negril AI being unfamiliar with jamaica, we hit up some bars and stuff on the beach, but a great experience was going ``In the middle of nowhere``
Met a worker at the riu named jacko to hook us up with a tour of hanover/westmoreland, brought us near his home where he woke his brother up to open his bar

Built out next to the road, infront of their house, a bar that opened when we got there... His brother woke up and got straight to work ``Yeaaaa big daddy my brother told me about you guys how you liking Jamaica``, Bam maybe an Oz or 2 on the top of the table, ``Would you guys like a cold one`` Red stripe popped open and handed to us`` and enjoyed our time at his bar offered us to try some grabba leaf for the first time and had a bunch of snacks and energy drinks for us to have, his bar was stocked, nobody else there except me my friend at this time, their kids joined around played music for us from a laptop straight into 2 big speakers on either side of this bar,As a visual maybe 4 or 5 people could cram up and inside to get a drink, patio deck out infront with a couple of chairs, as the sun was setting people were finishing off their daily runs, work, everything that normal people do everyday, working. A couple neighbors slowly started to pass by as they were getting home because they noticed unusual action so early around there. We started heading out back around when the sun started going down behind the mountains and this is when most working people end up getting home eating supper and hitting their bars to relax, smoke and vibe. If it weren`t for us, Jackos brother would`ve kept sleeping in and opening it up later when more regular action comes. We got great service, for something that was closed upon arrival, had a great time and was happy to pass by there, talking to the brother he used to work at the RIU too but it didn`t work out over there and so he made his bar for the neighbors and people of the village around.

After all this Did i feel taken advantage of, no because a bar that normally starts to open and get BUMPIN a bit later on in the evening opened early for us. We got served a nice drink, experienced memorable moments, while relaxing and enjoying a vacation, Just like many other bars
I dont question others because its not in my right to question or judge any other individual except myself and my own actions. If i don`t like something, i dont do it. If you feel pressured to do things you don`t want or like (IE Purchase a drink from x bar or restaurant) the only person you should be questioning and asking for help on, is yourself. Because im sure nobody forces or forced you to buy drinks.

Don`t take this as a fight, take this as a chance to open your mind body and soul up and free yourself and your mind of all the stress that seems to build up inside you. When you start to love yourself you start to stop hating others.

Every time we go to Shanty Town on the Pub crawl there is someone selling beer and my wife I always buy some. (as do others) So, yes, he is bringing them business. I have been in Shanty Town at other times other than when the Pub Crawl is not there and guess what? Those same "bars" aren't open. They are taking advantage of the Pub Crawl to make a little money. Good for them! I will support them every time.

I know Lenbert well. My wife and I have eaten at his table and we have discussed for hours his plans to help his community. He doesn't have to explain to every single person on the Pub Crawl what he plans to do with his "profits". Lenbert is one of the best people I have ever met in Jamaica or anywhere else.

The kids from the West End/Shanty Town area often come and ask Lenbert for money. He will give them a little money as long as they attend school the next week. And guess what......he checks with the school and holds the kids accountable if they don't go! I have personally heard Lenbert call one of the kids parents and told them they owe him some money back because because their child missed school two days that week after he paid them to go. Why does he do that? Because he wants to give these kids every chance to get an education and succeed. I guess that money came out of his bar "profits".

I once asked Lenbert what we could bring on our next reach to give to the kids. His answer surprised me. He wanted us to bring musical instruments. He knows that kids with an interest in music will do better in school because they are more focused. To date they wife and I have brought 56 musical instruments and he is trying to find a music teacher and he wants to start an orchestra with the Shanty town kids.

If you are concerned what Lenbert does with his "profits" let me give you another example. Several times a year Lenbert goes to Shanty Town and loads the bus with kids and takes them to the beach. All at his expense. We were honored to be with him on his birthday as 6 adults brought 26 kids from Shanty Town for an afternoon at the beach. We considered it one of the best days we have ever spent in all of our trips to Negril. Afterwards, Lenbert stopped in town and bought snacks and juice for everyone one the bus. I guess he was just spending his "profits" from his home bar that people are *****ing about.

If you don't like what Lenbert does or runs his business, then don't go or don't spend your money at his or any other bars. But as for me, I hope to be just like Lenbert when I grow up!

    One Love and Jah Bless!

On positive to all of this, I didn't know Lenbert had a bar at this house and I want to make sure we stop by next month when we are cruising on our scooter in the Cliffs. Clearly the Pub Crawl has morphed and with any change it won't be for everyone. I know Lenbert is under a lot of pressure from all sides and as well all know, you can't please everyone.

I wish him nothing but the best. We had dinner with him once after a crawl and he is one of the most amazing and intelligent humans I have met in any country and no matter what his approach or endeavor I am sure it is with a pure heart.

    One Love Lenbert!
