I don't plan tours in advance anymore--it is too much to have to get up and go on a certain day. But I will do trips spontaneously when I am there, or rent a motorcycle, etc. I can totally relate to that feeling of just wanting to stay put and chill instead of having to have it together in the morning to leave. Loving your report--hope you have a lot more to share.

    Day 4 (Cont)

The driving was one of my favorite parts of this day. Wish I could have captured everything in photos, but they wouldn’t have done it any justice. Jamaica is so beautiful…the landscape, the people, the music…all of it. It’s just really special. The road leading to YS Falls I will never forget. Saw the most beautiful horse farm…spectacular horses. Different than most of the horses you see in Jamaica. They looked like Thoroughbreds to me…. I kinda have a thing for horses…so this farm along this lovely road under a canopy of trees was captivating. Like something out of my dreams. Then you’d start to see little streams of water and you know you’re close to the falls. I’m stoked, this been waiting for this all day.

When you see it, it sort of takes your breath away…it did mine anyways. Where I’m live, waterfalls aren’t something you see everyday...or ever really…nothing like that anyways. I swear it felt like any given second I’d see a unicorn or some fairies flying around. Just ridiculous how magical a place this is. lol There were people hanging out in the pool and taking pictures all along the path in front of the falls. Lots of little kids playing having a blast. I really wanted to go off the rope swing…and I did…about 10 times. Really wanted a picture of that and thought that guy took some, but when they emailed me the pics there were none of the rope swing. Baaahhh.

The water is cold, and rejuvenating. Very cool place, I do believe I’ll be back someday, or maybe check out some other falls in JA...anyways, I now know that I have a liking for waterfalls. There was a gift shop on the grounds and a place to grab a cold beer. Since those guys spent the majority of their time at YS taking pictures for us, we treated them to a round of red stripes…and my friend agreed to meet up for a drink later at Margaritaville.

It rained most of the way back... We stopped for the “peppered shrimp”. I had been looking forward to this stop, as I had heard that these are not to be missed, and that couldn’t be any truer. I get my bag of “shrimp”….and I’m pleasantly surprised to pull out the biggest crawfish I’ve ever seen. Ok, THAT’S whats up! Peppered just right. I wish I had taken a picture of these suckers…they were huge…bright red beautiful crawfish. Mmmm. The woman tells me…”just don’t let them touch your lips”. HA! I promise my lips will be alright, I got this under control. So yummy. Our next stop was on that curve where all the ladies sell their bammy, festival, escovitch fish, etc….got a bag of hot bammy. I LOVE bammy, let me tell you…BIG fan. Shared my “shrimps” and bammy with my new buddy, the driver whose name I do not remember….I do remember he wasn’t scared to suck the crawfish heads so we cool. lol Good times.

By the time we got back to Samsara, it was getting late in the day. I got on the phone with a guy who’s number I got from *Joe Trinidad*. He told me this guy would take me to Country Western to go horseback riding. Dudes name is Garth. Set up a time for the next morning and he asks if I’m going to go out tonight. I tell him Alfreds and he says “see you there”.

We hung out on the cliffs again with E&L, the boy, and pro diver. Then sunset brought everybody out of the nooks and crannies. There was another Jamaican guy jumping the cliffs with us this evening. One thing I’ll always remember…all the Jamaican girls who worked at the hotel would gather in the windows of the restaurant above the bar to watch everyone jumping off the cliffs. When Lorenzo or this other JA guy would jump…all the girls would holler and whistle and laugh….so freakin cute to watch Jamaicans flirt.

Sun down. Before we go to Alfreds, we are going to make a stop at Margaritaville to say hello to the guys from the tour earlier and have a drink. I’m not 100% game with this but since my friend already agreed to meet up, I figure what the hell. They did us a real nice favor, and they were pretty funny….wouldn’t have had ANY photos from the trip today if it weren’t for these fine gentlemen.

Since we have quite a bit of time to work with…I come up with a brilliant idea. I ask the cab driver to take us somewhere to eat. Somewhere good…he says “Sweet Spice”…I say “YESSS…I want to go there!” When we went to the counter to order, there was a TV on showing what looked like the Jamaican version of American Idol. Good stuff. It took a little while for our food so I went outside to smoke. Guy starts talking to me. Tells me his friend thinks I’m “neat”. I can’t help it, I start laughing….”Oh yeah? I’m neat huh?” He can tell I don’t know how to take this. He says , “You know…you fine, you supafly?” Ohhhh OK, well in that case tell your friend “thanks” for me. I Thank him for the enjoyable banter and head back to eat. I’m SO glad I made the executive decision to eat here rather than Margaritaville. Excellent decision actually. The oxtail is like melt in your mouth, grandmas potroast type delicious. Maybe my favorite meal of the trip. Really large amount of food too….way too much for us to finish, so we offered the rest to the cab driver and he seemed happy to take it off our hands.

We get dropped off at Margaritaville, and its just kind of a weird vibe. There really wasn’t anybody there….accept a few young couples at the beach bar. We order some drinks. Really good dirty banana. We wait there for awhile…like half an hour. Finally these guys stroll up. We hang out, talk about…stuff….lol. This place is dead, and I’m just not really feeling this It looks like the staff there is trying to shut it down. The DJ isn’t playing anything at this point, and I make it known that I’m ready to go. They ask if we want to go do something….we decline. On our way out the DJ told us we should head over to Alfreds….we’re two steps ahead of you bud. lol When we get out to the street, the guys ride pulls up and they insist that we let them take us to our hotel. No thank you, we’re alright. We wait a little bit for our guy to get here then get off at Alfreds.

I’m ready to stay out and party tonight…feeling pretty good and want to have a fun. When we get there we hang out at the bar for a little bit. Rum punch is STRONG…I’m getting a buzz pretty quick, but that was the whole idea tonight. I get into a fun conversation with DJ dude from over at Margaritaville. He’s got his laptop set up and is making a playlist or whatever. Fun to talk to. Join my friend at a table where she is talking to somebody and watching a dude that’s dancing with fire. There’s a good reggae band playing…good entertainment. DJ and me want to walk down to the beach and get some smoke. I tell my friend what I’m doing and in plain English I ask her if she would like to come with me. She very clearly said No. OK? We proceed.

We don’t have to go far. Find a nice chill little spot to sit and burn one. We chillin for awhile then this other dude runs over and says my friend is looking everywhere for me. LMFAO “Ummm…well I’m right here…” I don’t think much of it. By the time we went back into Alfreds I suppose it had been close to an hour. My friend attitude sucks. I walk off to find a restroom. On my way I run into Garth and we talk for awhile…nail down plans for the next morning. Finally make it to the restroom out back and can’t get the door to lock. This nice Jamaican lady offers to stand in front of the door and make sure nobody walks in. She was super sweet. Talked to her for awhile…Barbara…yeah I like her a lot. When I get back to our table….my friend is acting real ****ty, real rude and getting loud….pretty embarrassing. So basically she killed the vibe. Killed it dead.

We leave, cause I’m not going to be seen with her like this, and I’m getting drunk…its clear where this is headed.

That’s about all I have to say about that. Gonna need a redo.

YS falls looks so beautiful! I would love to swing on a vine and jump into the water, that must have been a blast!
Looks like you had a fun night at Alfreds - Sorry to hear about your friend ruining the vibe though near the end, that's a bummer!
(I never made it to Margaritaville on any of my reaches, sounds like I wasn't missing much from your description though. )
Thanks for sharing your experiences! Keep it coming! I'm looking forward to hearing about the horseback riding! Man, You really crammed alot into your trip! wow!

Yes!!! Tizzy! You described YS Falls perfectly! That is exactly how I see it.....like one of the most beautiful hidden places ever, it took my breath away too, and still does, even though I have been like 3 or 4 times already. And I have about a bizillion pictures of it! lol
I just love it there, I could spend the whole day, swimming, climbing, lounging, just being there....and ONE DAY I hope to do the zipline, something always prevents us from doing it, last couple of times it was closed, but I hope to do it next visit...hopefully April!

    Just LOVE YS!

    Hey Clarity,
From pictures I too thought it was vines that you swung from. No vine swinging, it is a burly rope. They also give you gloves to protect the hands. Now that I think about it, I didn't do a tarzan yell. Next time for sure.
