    Calico Jack's from the Cliffs

What is the best way to get from the Cliffs to Calico Jack's ? Could you do it by water and what would a guy like Vincent charge ? If you go by land , do you need to catch a boat out there ? Thanks.

Best way would be to hire a driver. You can get there by water but it would be a whole day trip in a glass bottom boat. The Red Stripe use to do afternoon trips to Rhodes Hall but not sure if they still do or not. Maybe hire one of the large cruiser boats out of Blood Bay but that won't be cheap.

I'd get a taxi to the taxi / bus park near the roundabout then get a $2 taxi out to Green Island, if you are planning on returning before sunset you can just walk out to the road and catch a taxi back to Negril. If you will be there later than sunset, plan a ride with a driver. It will cost more, but you don't want to be out on the road at dark.

Calico Jack's is the bar on the small island off Half Moon Beach just a few minutes before (by car) you reach Green Island.

Half Moon recommends that you call them first to make sure that Jack's is open. There is a cost to have their boat take you to the island. They can also arrange a pick up and drop off for you when you call. The cost for a water taxi such as Vincent to get you there will be substantially higher than taking their shuttle or a taxi. But the view you would have would be a very enjoyable experience from the water!

From the cliffs, we always charter a driver to take us to Half Moon Beach. This avoids having to change taxis at the roundabout and make frequent stops along the way. Linston has taken us to HMB a couple times, and we just prearrange a pick-up time with him.

I just looked at the nav chart and Google earth. I not sure a boat can get to Calico Jack's from the sea side.

You'd have to go around the point at Orange Bay out into the blue water. I don't see a reliable way to get back inside the reef at Half Moon.

To paraphrase Bette Davis " It could be a bumpy ride"

    Take a cab at 60KPH.

The Wild Thing is much more seaworthy than a glass bottom.

And I'll bet there were many a day that was a no go.
