    Travellers / Treehouse

Morning everyone! How about those Sixers!!!!!!!!! Can I have your opinions on Travellers vs Treehouse? Food options/enjoyment? Value? Beach, size? Rooms? Ocean - I heard of the "red ocean"? lol. Our story is we have stayed at Catcha twice and LOVE it and this past August stayed at Treehouse (first time on the beach side and will continue to do that), great food, wonderful beach and my husband who is not a beach/ocean person did not come out of the ocean! He loved it, it was healing and it was a wonderful, well deserved vacation for him. Now he wants to go back to Treehouse but I am open to trying a new place and Travellers sounds like a good option. The location seems good, not to far from or favorite cliff restaurant 3 Dives! You cannot beat Treehouse breakfast buffet and the beach security is amazing! But Travellers rooms seem more open to a beach view and the rooms seem more up to date...see my dilemma? We are of the mindset, you cannot be anywhere bad in Negril! We are just happy/thankful be there and not in a rush to go anywhere else. So do you stick with what you know or jump out there and try somewhere else? We are also sand gravity "Kings" - I know some of you can relate! We get comfortable and the days just go by...

I also want to thank everyone for all of their trip reports - i just finished reading Manda's report from years ago and I couldn't stop reading, my boss wasn't too happy but oh well! And Ron-Man, I read yours about the ocean at Travellers turning muddy or "red", that seems gross to me and a total turn off. And MikeyNYC - the $ for bacon/sausage (funny tho) has me a little worried but I'll wait to see what you all say and go from there. One more question - does it matter (for Travellers side of the beach) that we will be going in September - places closed down, etc?

Thanks all - Jess & Wade

I would stick with Treehouse; or sometimes can get a summer/fall deal at Coco La Palm

    Wipree Jess and Wade!

We have stayed at both Travellers and Treehouse so I will give you a little comparison. The property at Treehouse is gorgeous and we found the basic room very comfortable and up to date, Travellers is a bit more modern now, but they are very close in comfort and function. The beach area at Treehouse is much bigger and much deeper, you also don't deal with the backflow from the river so the water does not darken on some days. We were at Travellers last week and this happened two out of the 7 days and just a slight bit on a third day. Travellers has more things going on now as they have some sort of entertainment each night including their beach party on Monday nights w/buffet dinner. Both resorts have great security, Treehouse can get a bit hectic when the cruise ship passengers come in. I didn't really care for that as it seemed the resort became a bit crowded. I also liked that the bar and restaurant prices at Travellers were more reasonable, nothing is overly priced. The breakfast at Travellers is definantly much better, and the view is great as well. One of the things we like about Travellers is that it truly is right on the water. Negril Treehouse has a great location as well, but you are set back a bit. Negril Treehouse has some extra food options with the open grill area and Hollywood doing the chicken each day, so that is a plus.

There isn't too much of a difference as far as location to Three Dives, you will still have to taxi from either. Also, and this is purely personal preference we prefer the location of Travellers as you can walk to local markets, town, etc. It just seems more of the places we frequent are in close proximity. I recommend both as they are both great properties and it truly just comes down to some personal preferences. We prefer to do a split stay and in December we will do 5 nights at Travellers and 3 or 4 at Catcha.

I guess for us we choose Travellers because of the closeness to the water. I love having breakfast right on the water, I love having drinks so close as well. Even if you sit at the bar you still feel close to the sea. Treehouse has a good bar as well, I just prefer the set up of Travellers. Also, you don't deal with as many hustlers on the far end of the beach at Travellers, Treehouse because of being between Margaritaville and Couples is like direcly in the crossfire of all the hustlers. This last trip we would walk each morning from Travellers down to Beaches which is a bit over 2 miles each way and we would not be approached until we got around Margaritaville.

If you have any questions, just ask away!

Both the Wellingtons at Travellers and Gail at Treehouse are top notch owners and I consider the best in Negril, the staffs reflect the owners at both resorts. I am sure we will

Thanks RonMan - it seems we cant go wrong with ether property! Let's go Groupon, lol!!! BTW - the room we got with the Groupon at Treehouse was everything we wanted, private (end of the connecting balcony), but way back at the back of the property, that was 1 of my two gripes, the other being the bussed in groups. It did get a little busy and the wonderful staff did, in MY opinion, did cater to them. Hey RonMan - does the patty man come all the way to Travellers???

Yes, we got patties almost each day. And if you don't want to wait on them to come to you, then you can walk across the road to "De Patty Shop" and buy them there. They resell Juicy J patties, same as the guys on the beach. They are both wonderful properties, we just prefer Travellers. I really like the set up better, the boss lady was on the fence, but now with the renovations she agrees with me.

I would stick with Treehouse and that end of the beach, and agree with Oakmonter that you should also check out CocoLaPalm (my go-to).

Treehouse has Chef Teddy that used to run Teddy's Hideaway at Blue Cave Castle. I miss his cooking and hanging with him.

    Have also stayed at both.
First thing's first. They've worked out the breakfast meat hiccup as of my stay last Dec and the renovations look great. Also nice to hear from Ronmon that the beach is wider now.

Treehouse is wonderful. Love the breakfast on the upstairs deck overlooking the sea. Also the fact that the sea is visible from the pool and hot tub is really nice. Beach area is nice and wide. I personally prefer the location better than Travellers but Trav is a much better value if you can score a groupon. Seems like Treehouse has been steadily increasing their prices on the "deal" sites, which is understandable as they've become much more popular due to all the great reviews.

I prefer the livelier bar and beach scene at Treehouse, so if cost is the same, I'd go TH every time but wouldn't hesitate to go back to Trav is the price is right.
Honestly, you can't go wrong with either for a mid-range property that includes breakfast.
