Shipping 20 lb parcel to Negril

Am trying to find some options other than Canada Post from Canada to Negril. Any suggestions? Have around 20 lbs...

There are a lot of shipping options. Canada Post is best for letters and small packages. FedEx and UPS are also options. Purolator uses both FedEx and UPS for deliveries to Jamaica. The barrel option is generally used for much more than 20 lbs. The barrel needs to be packed, sealed and have all the necessary forms, labels, bills of lading, airway bill, etc. Costs and delivery time length vary depending on the shipping company.

Customs is something not to forget and as with any customs issue, it is up to the discretion of the customs agent. If duty is required, clearing customs can be a relatively painless process if you do everything right, but it can be a very lengthy process if you don't have all the forms, IDs and money to pay the duty.

Contact a local shipper (ie. Purolator, they are about the largest in Canada) in your area to get a basic idea on what they suggest. It will depend on what you are sending (value and contents) and who is the receiving party.

For 20 lbs., I don't think you need a barrel unless the contents are very large. Your local shipper will be able to help to decide the best solution for what you are actually shipping.
