Any opinions if going to Pelican Bar is worth the long drive from Negril?
Any opinions if going to Pelican Bar is worth the long drive from Negril?
Well, first time we went we had a pretty good time. Second time we went there were 3 people, no music, and the guys that drove us told us after 45 minutes we should go because it was boring. It's a great photo trip, but not more than a one off. Knowing what I know now having been there, I wouldn't go unless you are into photography, otherwise our last trip was actually boring.

Depends on what you're looking for. It certainly has a, need to see it at least once vibe, however some people dislike how quiet it can be at times. Personally I love it when it's quiet out there. That said, I've been four times and have experienced it packed as well as with only a few other people there. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
I have never been, and never understood the appeal of Pelican, but to each their own. If anyone wanted a road trip that's really unique, hire Linston and have him take you up the mountain to Accompong town. Now there is an adventure.
Been there probably 4 times..my girlfriend & I ride our motorcycle there..solid 2 hrs drive on my bike..always had a good time there...one year we did YS Falls first then headed to Pelican Bar...it nice to get back to our West End digs to have a cool beverage...reflect on the days adventure & watch a beautiful sunset....You gotta go at least once..heck it's on Goggle Earth

Floyd's Pelican Bar is not something that is worth being a destination trip from Negril but it is a good place to add-on to a Black River Tour or maybe on the way back from Accompong Town, Y.S. Falls or Appleton. In 2003, before Hurricane Ivan, it was barely held together with some rope and rusty nails and (in my book) a little more "unusual" and a spot I stopped in frequently on boat rides from Treasure Beach.

We loved the Pelican Bar. We had the entire place to ourselves. We ate a fresh fish dinner, had a Dark and Stormy and played dominos with the guys working there. We stopped along the way at the Peter Tosh Masoleum in Bluefield and went to YS Falls and stopped for some Black Pepper shrimp. I think Mayfiled falls is a lot more fun than YS but the Pelican Bar is definitely worth a vist in my opinion.
We went there after YS and Black River ... it was quiet and not many people .. unique vibe but no plans to visit again and if you only go there it's a long ride ...
