    Conch Soup Man (on bike)

    I saw him far away.

He was riding really slow as usual.

    You may have seen him
    He's about 65-70 years young.
    He has a Blue Bicycle.
There is a blue gas can on the back
and the gas lines run along the frame up to the front.
On the front he has a hot-plate.
There is a metal frame around the hot plate.
On top of the hot plate sits a Very big Soup pot.

Inside the pot is pure heaven.
    Conch soup at its finest.

I ran and waved, he was coming towards me,
but I still waved like a fool.

He stops his bike and pulls the handle bars,
A big Bike kick stand, wraps around on both sides of the bike.

    Voila!

    It is solidly in place.

I saw 2-3 of the Housekeepers from my hotel
walk up to him before I got there.

He opened the top of the pot
    and the soup was boiling.
    Wow, what ingenuity I thought.

He talks the whole time he is serving the soup.
Into styro-foam cups with a big ladle.

He has his system down pat to the tee.

He can pull out a napkin, pull out a top,

    stirs the soup, you see,
corn, red beans, potatoes and other veggies
    and of course Conch.

    "200 J, please" I say.

I walked back to my room and sat on the Veranda and enjoyed every drop .

So, if you see him, Please give him a holler.

Well, he has the perfect name for his occupation
Hard working people such as "Soupy" have my admiration. I have also met other Negril people that have the right name for their jobs. I met the original Juicy decades ago, a few Jerky, the Chemist, a few Farmers, hortical Don...the list go on!
