Is Aquarius Fitness Center in Westend still open? Any other gyms nearby?

I found the AFC on Google, but their last post on Facebook is from 2017, and none of the numbers I've found are on WhatsApp (I don't have great rates for international calls). I know there are quite a few boardies well familiar with Westend, do you know if this gym is still open? It's about 10 min walk from Rick's to the gym if you walk towards downtown. On their Facebook page they said: 'the facility is located on Summerset Road in the West End of Negri, second lot on the right side. Summerset is the lane just before Negril Escape, Banmark Cambio/Car Rental is on the corner'.

I've got a half marathon in May and then the BoA Chicago Marathon in October '19 and I want to run during my stay in JA, but from what I can remember Westend isn't running friendly because of the narrow roads, and getting to the beach road every morning isn't an option. All I need is a treadmill and some basic gym equipment, preferably in Westend. If you know of any other gym alternatives to AFC, please share. I did check out some of the hotels nearby my place, but couldn't find any info on their websites.

Yes it open as mi saw people working out der in the morning a few days ago...
They have a daily rate, weekly rate and monthly rate...
The have full facilities with changing rooms and shower
As far as Jamaica goes it a pretty nice gym/health club
Actually might go there on the day rate so mi can take a shower since wi without wata again in the West End....

And yes you are right about the location of Somerset Road...my first stay in Jamaica (Negril Westend) in '88 was at Drumville Cove resort which is the the place right there at beginning of Summerset rd on the seaside.. used to go across the street everyday opposite corner of Banmark where the famous chicken shack was Felix & ?

i remember when i first started going to negril in the mid 90s, i'd see a lot of boxers who'd come up to train- they'd all run on the west end road and up to the hills.

That's interesting. Normally when I visit JA I stay by the beach road, pretty decent to run on. This is the first time I'm staying in Westend. I've only been up there a couple of times and assumed it wasn't a good place for running. Maybe I was wrong. Do you know where they would start off from and which hills they use to run up on? I need to do some work in the gym regardless, but would love to be able to do some running outdoors.

That's interesting. Normally when I visit JA I stay by the beach road, pretty decent to run on. This is the first time I'm staying in Westend. I've only been up there a couple of times and assumed it wasn't a good place for running. Maybe I was wrong. Do you know where they would start off from and which hills they use to run up on? I need to do some work in the gym regardless, but would love to be able to do some running outdoors.

i used to see them running from around xtabi to where just natural is now-it was so long ago, and there were still goats and chickens roaming the road, so it was probably safer than it is nowadays.

but west end road is still pretty quiet, once you get to the light house. i think the hills i'm talking about are around where just natural and barney's hummingbird garden are. or maybe it was where the road splits off to the left right after westender inn- it was so long ago, i really can't remember for sure, but i used to ride my mountain bike all over that area. you can take a look on google maps, to get an idea of the area i'm referring to.
