The first time I used my TSA Pre Check I was selected for a random search So I had to remove jacket, boots and liquids anyway! lol. It was still worth getting through security quickly. Funny though because I've flown a lot and never been selected for random check.

Signed me & my gal up 3 years ago worth it..as I look to today at ORD...TSA...27 mins. minimum....TSA Pre Check...3 min. max $ well invested & I'll be seeing it first hand next Monday early morning the 28th to MBJ

Wife and I paid $100 each for Global Entry passes. Global Entry includes TSA PreCheck benefits.
