Before most of the hotels put in swim area zones there used to be red and white buoys that nobody paid any attention to whatsoever. We used to swim far beyond Alfred's dock. Get out 100 to 200 yards offshore and we'd find sandbars that you could stand on. We used the Alfred's dock as a resting point on the way out and back.
