Nice story. Reminded me a lot of several small shops in Kingston where I used to live. People used to come in with stacks of '45s using their fingers for a spindle selling them "hot off the presses".
Speaking of Jamaicans being observant. My late best friend "Marshall" used to say that the reason Jamaicans just sit and observe is that they are sheep herders by nature. Quizzically, I asked what he met and he said "People are like sheep. You can shear them many times but you can only eat them once." I never really minded being clipped a likkle here and there for the experiences I gained over the many years.
Respect.
