I wrestled with airfare a lot this year in planning our trip from Phoenix. We are a family of 4 and you can go broke just trying to get to Jamaica. I was told it is because of the high tax when flying into JA which is the 2nd highest in the world? Not sure how accurate that is but after poking a bit on one-way flights I see the leg from U.S. to JA is ~$550 but the leg out is ~$200. I had a bunch of Frequent flyer miles on three different cards but none had enough for a roundtrip ticket so I ended up using miles to pay for 3 tickets oneways there then payed cash for the legs back. The net result was $1500 for a family of 4 vs. $3200 which made the trip possible.
Thought I'd share the tip in the event you are in the same boat as me.
In 9 days my butt will be on the Negril white sand Red Stripe in hand. So excited!!!
