What can I expect in October??

I am trying to put together a trip for my birthday the first week of October. I know it’s still hurricane/rainy season so what can we expect the weather to be like. We have visited late November a couple of times but never early fall. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

Greetings Rumlover (Wray & Nephew white rum hopefully), I’ve been to Negril every October since 2006. Only experienced one hurricane (2012) during that time. Kingston and other parts of the island were affected, but in Negril we were playing dominoes outside at the restaurant at Footeprints with some locals. We bought our tickets in April for our 2 week stay in Negril this October. The weather hasn’t deterred us yet....we’re going and look forward to the next October every time we check out of our hotel! You can expect to have a great time, beaches are not as crowded since it’s still considered the slow season. But there’s live music on the beach most nights of the week, our favorite restaurants are open, and it’s easier to get a lounger on the beach. No problem....Enjoy!

    Peace and blessings!

I've been going in October since 1990 and love it. Is quiet season, but still enough going on to give you entertainment options. Have seen some rough weather during that time, but still enjoyed my visit. Usually weather is good, no problem.

I've only been once at that time, and it was honestly one of my favorite trips to date. The weather was perfect, by my standards. Usually I would say my fav time of year is early December, but early Oct is a close contender.

I will note that it was slower than I've ever seen Negril. There were hardly any tourists and the hustle was intense. (Only downside I can think of)

BTW, this is the first time I've been able to access the message board in ages and I'm stoked! Hope ya'll have all been doing well.

I appreciate you sharing your October experiences. I love visiting in February and seeing the beach so busy but we also enjoy slow season. We’ve been twice now in November and once in July so we have experienced slow season and really enjoy it too. I can also deal with the ramped up hustlers. The only negative in my opinion is I feel so bad for the venders trying to earn a living. Last year I’m sure I spent any money I saved with an off season trip by over tipping and shopping more just to help out the venders.

Looks like from the historical averages it is still nice and warm in Negril in October. Might have to think about a late trip this year.
