We are truly blessed to have a wonderful Jamaican neighbor in SWFL who shares her ackee with us. She has a HUGE tree in her yard with a plentiful crop this year. We had been going by boat past her house for a while admiring her ackee tree and waiting to see her outside. One day we were fortunate to see her outside so we struck up a conversation. She was amazed that we knew about ackee. We are the only non-Jamaican in FLA she had ever met who even HEARD of ackee much less knew when to pick it and how to prepare it.
