Xtabi Sea Front Cottage

Planning another trip with a newbie
Xtabi has been on the list for a while
I am only interested in a sea front cottage
I have heard that Cottage # 1 and 4 are the best
Your thoughts

We enjoyed staying in #5. I believe it’s the smallest, it’s closest to the restaurant and the patio has shade, felt very private and there are two lower decks for sun and ocean access. We shared the two sun decks with the cottage next door but no one was staying there.

1 and 4 are the "best," in that they're the largest. however, they don't have air conditioning and the private verandahs have no shade.

my sister and her husband stayed in 4 a few years ago and she said the room was really hot and the loft was really dusty (they don't really ever do a deep clean on any of the rooms at xtabi) and lack of shade kept them off their verandah during the day.

is cottage 6, which is to the left of the restaurant (facing the ocean) and against the fence that separates xtabi from 3 dives. i normally would advise you to pick that cottage, but i haven't been there since 3 dives moved those prefab cottages in. i think my sister told me the 3 dives cottages are right next to cottage 6- if that's the case i would say nay.

you might want to consider renting rooms 7 and 8. they're 2 units in one building next to the restaurant and behind cottage 6, so they're set back a bit from the water, but you still get a great view and can hear the ocean. we stayed in 8 for the negril leg of our honeymoon and it was great. it has an outdoor shower that overlooks west end road, which is kinda awesome, and a large porch that overlooks the water.

you also might want to check out a cottage at high cove villas.

they're located next to negril escape, across from the hungry lion (RIP).

they also don't have air conditioning, but we stayed in neptune cottage in february (2017) and didn't need it.

dem cottages overlooking the wata are all nice...….
personally mi would pick which ever cottage was the least expensive and available

snorkeling is great off of Xtabi…...snorkel over to Rockhouse or up to SamSara

My sister is correct. Cottage 4 has no shade in front during the day. Couldn’t sit out front B/c of it. The linens in general are poor and are u comfortable. And there was an inch high space between the floor and front door which allowed big black ants into the room. If I were to try Xtabi again I would try cabin 3 which is up above 4 and closer to the road. It’s a 1 level cabin, outside shower in back of it - has a covered porch and AC if I am correct.

We have stayed in #2. Very nice view. No air at the time it was about 6 yrs ago. Not real shiny clean but ok. Linens were really worn. I would stay again very nice vibe. Good food .

Just moved down to beach after beginning my trip in cottage 8.
In my opinion, the extra fees involved with securing cottage 1 or 4 are not necessary. All cottages have their own unique feel and can accommodate 2 travelers with enough space & togetherness. I
Take the extra $$ you'd spend on a room and hire a driver for the day.
Xtabi nice place, no matter where your room is.
