    Christine,

I am so very sorry you have felt attacked and made to feel your post wasn't honest. You are not the bad person you are in fact the victim. Comments like when you lay down with fleas and the like were simply not call for. Everyone SHOULD feel comfortable posting the good and bad without the fear of being dissected. I for one very much appreciate you posting about your unfortunate experience, so thank you for taking the time and again I am so very sorry you were violated.

    Christine,

I am sorry that you have had to deal with the robbery in your room, robberies are far from common in Negril, but they do occur.

I am also sorry that you feel that people have treated you unfair here - but when you choose to make a condemning post like the original one in this thread - that is warning people to not stay at a hotel and hint that the cause for a robbery is the security and management/owners - you are opening yourself up to have responses made that you may not like.

You left out the key facts such as that you invited your Jamaican boyfriend back to your room, that an item that was stolen was returned by the police and the latest revelation that you did indeed have a party in your room. Leaving out these key details cannot allow anyone to be truly aware of any potential issue and it is definitely not fair to the property, security, staff, management and owners. Your original post takes on an air of "getting even" with a property instead of genuinely wanting to inform people of a potential problem. Leaving out these key details does give your credibility a bit of blow.

You state that you didnt want to mention your boyfriend because you thought others might want to suggest that he may have a role to play because he is Jamaican, and that is not fair as you say "they are not all bad." Yet you suggest that the Jamaican security, Jamaican staff, Jamaican management and Jamaican owners may be to blame. It is a bit hard to believe that you didnt want people to think all Jamaicans are bad when you turn around and blame many Jamaicans instead of presenting the real facts of the situation and allowing the readers to make a truly informed decision.

You invited all these comments by making your original post and leaving out many key facts that would have changed the impression that readers would take away from the post, and had Jan not made her post, none of the readers would have known that there was more to the story than you were letting on.

I will choose to close this thread or allow to remain open based upon future comments. It will remain open as your original post was very condemning of a long time popular property and you have not been forthcoming with the facts as to allow people to determine for themselves if there is any potential problem at NBCC.

I have stayed at NBCC more than once (even though I am not crazy about the place) because of the cheap rates and beautiful beach. So speaking from experience I can say they really need to upgrade the locks on all rooms. On both the patio door and the main door, I've seen busted door frames and very shabby locks.
I also witnessed a couple lying about a robbery before so I know that it happens but it's getting to where every time someone says something bad happened to them in Negril, for tourists sake, it's hinted that maybe they are lying or people insinuate that this person got robbed because of whom she invited into her room - not cool. The reality is that crime is on the rise, just be careful!

Luvjabad....I don't know what happened as I wasn't there AND I don't believe it's ever right to blame the victim...but....just as you say you've "witnessed a couple lying about robbery"...it's also "not cool" to manipulate the facts by leaving out the details and accusing management/staff of thievery when there is no proof! It's adding more unnecessary victims to the crime!

A couple and their 9 year old child. Yeah, sounds like a wild party. And as far as blaming "Jamaican security, Jamaican staff, Jamaican management and Jamaican owners" ...what? If the staff were all Canadian/American/European, what would that change?

I understand you have a business to run and need to be faithful to your sponsors, but blaming a victim is never right. I didn't take the original poster as being vindictive at all. You know that I know how it feels to go though something like this.

And as far as everyone saying it can happen anywhere...well no chit sherlock. We don't discuss robberies from elsewhere on a Negril forum.

I've been visiting Negril every year since 1979, with very few exceptions tourist that take their new Jamaican friend(s) back to their room are around 99.9% sure you will be robbed or worse. I watched the same two sisters get robbed the first night of their stay two years running, all because their hooked back up with the same dude(s) that took them to the show across the road and their buddies cleaned the room out while they were gone. Now without any money or documents force to return home. Christine, consider yourself lucky Mrs. Gaynair offered any compensation, and that you were not injured or worse for such ill throughout move on your part. And that's a nice as I can be on this subject..
