Thank you, San Fran Janet for coming here & posting the rest of the story. It certainly clarifies things when someone who was there at the time provides more thorough, complete information. We all know when we stay at a property & something like this takes place, guests talk w/ one another.
Again, Christine, I'm sorry this happened to you. However, your credibility has been damaged - not by you lack of English skills which, BTW, are fine - but by your decision to leave out significant, important details. Being honest means not leaving out facts. Not using the wooden stick, not locking the door... pretty crucial facts to alter. Although your friend may be very honorable, this is not always the case. I've known of more than one occasion when it's been a guest of a guest who is has been the thief.
I had a nagging feeling of discomfort from the start about your story because I know Mrs. Gaynair does not place a single woman traveling solo on the ground floor. My UK friend has a friend stay w/ her & that - plus a medical condition - is why she has a ground floor unit. Leaving out the recovery of your testing unit was an unnecessary omission.
I can only hope that people who read your incomplete report will come back to read the rest of the story.
