Re: Need a little help
Super easy. There is an ATM at the airport to the left after you exit the building, there are ATMs at the banks in Lucea that you'll drive past on your way to Negril, there are ATMs on the left as you enter Negril, there are ATMs at the ScotiaBank at the roundabout. These reliably have money in them Mon-Sat AM, although as the weekend progresses they tend to run out of money. There's an ATM at Times Square that seems to have money in it about half the time. Personally, I prefer to use a bank ATM (ScotiaBank) rather than a private one. They all work the same as ATMs in the US.
Before you go, contact your bank and 1) notify them that you will be traveling in Jamaica, and 2) have them increase your daily withdrawal limit to $500.
The ATMs will limit you to $30,000 JMD in a single transaction. This is about $240 US, and you can complete a transaction and immediately do a second one if you need more than that in JMD. Remember to do 30,000 not 300 which incurs exactly the same ATM fees but won't get you very far! You could also withdraw USD at about half the ATMs if you should for some reason need it (but in general you don't want to do that).
