LOL You are not the only one. I did the same thing yesterday too. Then, today, I had to scrape about 15cm of ice off my windshield (took over an hour). Why did I come home?

Maybe I am just not a very complicated person, but I am as amazed by jet travel now as I was when I was a kid. To travel over large expanses of the earth to go from one climate and one culture to another in one day still amazes me. I am always blown away walking out of the airport in Jamaica in the dead of winter, and always depressed when I walk out into winter when I get back. At the start of my trip I notice people being picked up to go home, always so sullen and quiet. Then near the end of my trip I watch people just getting in, all excited and going through the "get set up" routine. The travel experience overall is still amazing to me, I'm hooked.

Yeah I had the same "why did I come here" thought. Later that day in Toronto I found myself trudging through this to get to my parents:
But it's a beautiful city. This was shot from the downtown airport in early morning on my way out:
Irine, I am the same way. When I fly I'm still like a little kid amazed at the whole flying phenomenon. Which BTW will have to be shut down at some point, if humans are to get to zero carbon emissions and avoid a climate catastrophe. I hope to be permanently living in Jamaica by then and no longer flying back and forth.
Flying shut down??? LOL. I believe the cold has gotten to your brain.
Pretty sure airplanes are here to stay. However how they are used and who can afford to get on one will change. Development of high speed rail will cut down greatly on domestic flights in the future, and carbon tax (not unlike the "guzzler" tax you pay on an suv) will drive flight prices higher and higher. One of the reasons we are not going back to Negril this year is that we could not find a flight at a reasonable price. We have a hard time justifying a trip when the flights cost almost as much as the rest of the entire vacation. We can fly to Ireland cheaper. Hopefully the highspeed rail will start sooner than later. A cheap train ride to the coast where flights to JA are much cheaper is an idea we can live with. For the time being paying $350 a week for a room for two and $688 a person to fly there seems ridiculous to us.
