Parking Laws/Etiquette on the West End

What are the parking laws/etiquette on the West End? My experience is that some places have parking and some don't. Where there is no parking, do people just park on the side of the road? I've also been to some restaurants that are associated with hotels where there is a gated entrance. How do those work?

If your going to any of the gated hotel/restaurants I suggest calling first, they’ll have a place for you. There are many hidden parking spots on the westend. There is an easy one to find at Xtabi and one just past LTU and a few more. Not going to be easy to find after dark with the craziness of westend traffic.

Laws? Etiquette? All of Jamaica is a bit of a free-for-all, and in most towns (e.g. Lucea, Sav) parking can be an issue, but I've never had a problem in Negril because it is full of hotels with mostly-empty parking lots. Occasionally a security guard will give a hard time if you're not staying there, but usually they're chill. However I no longer drive in Jamaica for a variety of reasons. It's much more efficient for me to get from my house to Sav on bicycle. Long bike ride to Negril (but I've done it). One great thing about bicycle is there's never a problem parking it!

As someone who drives almost everyday here...it can sometimes be difficult to figure out where you can park or not. Do not park on the road near the round about... you'll have a good chance of getting a ticket there.

The gated places where you can see the security...they'll stop & ask you why you want to visit & generally will ask your name.
The gated places where the security is not visible...honk your horn & security will let you in, once they know the reason for your visit.

The easiest way to learn where to park at random bars & restaurants without a parking lot...is to park in the closest available (looking) area...and ask the bartender, owner, waiter if where you've parked is appropriate...they'll let you know if you're good there & if not will let you know where to park.
