I was told a long time ago the figures lie and liars figure!

Per the Center for Disease Control and the South Korean equivalent - South Korea 66 deaths per 7,869 cases or 0.84% overall mortality rate. US 38 deaths per 1,358 cases or 2.80% overall mortality rate. The CDC has also estimated that 15,000 people in the US have died from the flu this season.

It is too early in this pandemic to claim exact mortality rates. There are too many variables in play right now to calculate.

What is known is this virus has a much higher mortality rate the older you are and is very contagious.

Italy has surpassed 1,000 deaths from the virus. Some say this is due to Italy having the oldest population on average in Europe.

I have three business trips within the US in the next 60 days and as of right now, I don't plan on cancelling these trips. However, if it comes to pass that I would be required to complete a mandatory quarantine because of the travel, then I would probably not travel.

Remember to cover and cough. Wash your hands thoroughly and often with hot water and soap.

Unfortunately, I have a job that can't be done from the comfort of my home.

We are booked with our Granddaughter for June. We still have time before having to make a cancelation decision. But I am among the older Americans with underlying health problems; so there's that. Hopefully, it will all be behind us by then and we can go back to buying toilet tissue like we always did.

i'm actually less worried about toilet paper than i am about rice!

i usually buy a 20 lb bag of jasmine rice on amazoncom for $22 to $24 bucks- it now costs $60.

i went to a mid-sized, overpriced supermarket in my neighborhood and the shelves in the rice aisle were virtually empty. i scored 2 5lb bags of arroz rico brand enriched rice for $2.99 each and felt like i won powerball.

That is the percentage of all deaths for the age group, not the mortality percentage.

Out of all the people who die from the flu, 48.7% of them are 65 and older. You don't have a 48.7% chance of dying from the flu if you are over 65.

What happens if they screen at the airport in Mo Bay, you test positive/have symptoms, and they don't let you on the plane back home? Plus, you are required to self-quarantine for 14 days? Then what?
