My own personal situation
Briefly (brief because I have a lot to do):
- After a long successful career as a computer software professional, decided to retire to Jamaica. Decided a couple years ago.
- Bought a house + land to retire to (Petersfield, about 45 min from Negril by car). Started process in Jan 2019
- Moved in Jul 2019
- Some "challenges" but mostly was going well by Jan 2020. Got house set up, made friends in local community, got farm started up and hired a local to do the farmwork (note: his previous "occupation" was begging money from ... *you* folks or people like you ... in Negril)
- Jan 2020 took trip back to Canada/USA for purpose of visiting family & continuing the moving process
- Learned of Wuhan coronavirus crossover on Jan 20 which is when news first came out of China. Was en-route Toronto-Boston at the time.
- Immediately *knew* this was serious - any species crossover of an animal virus to humans is potentially very serious. Also *knew* containment-to-China strategy would fail (strategy had multiple "bugs").
- Therefore: I needed to decide where I wanted to be when travel shut down
- Decided on Boston area due to: (a) bettter health care system (b) possibility of me personally making a difference by coming out of retirement to help (note: am contacting Gates/Zukerberg (Harvard connections) to see if I can help with this effort which is largely a software effort: https://www.wired.com/story/a-diseas...kles-covid-19/
- Am currently in self-imposed isolation in an apartment in the Boston area. Keeping in touch with my house/farm/community in Jamaica through WhatsApp. E.g. the guy to manage the farm, other friends. Am still able to send money to them by bank transfer through NCB bank.
- Apart from that, praying.
Love and peace and STAY SAFE,
RIchard

Re: My own personal situation
Good luck rtitle, been a huge fan of your "story" and enjoyed our PMs. Good luck to you! Here's hoping you can both help out and make it back to your farm soon.
