The food is one of the reasons I go. Love the local bacon and sausage, especially at places like Charela and Treehouse where the meat comes from their own farms.
Commercially prepared and packaged meat products should not be a problem to bring in.
Being from Minnesota, the home of SPAM, I personally love the stuff. Fry it up as is or add some pineapple and it's great for any meal. When we go fishing in the north woods we always bring some for shore lunch in case the fish don't cooperate, it's tasty cooked over an open fire.

If you like Newports, I would recommend trying Matterhorn..a JA menthol cig. Quite smooth and easily found. Regarding spam..well, I like their chicken and fish...no spam for me. I would assume since it is canned, that their wouldn't be a problem..but I truly have no clue.
Don't want to get in on argument of any kind but just my own experience I bring cheddar cheese and dairy fudge with me every trip, have been searched a couple times and no one said a word, they dump out the boxes I travel them in and see what it is and that it. I always bring a couple things i can't get there that i like.

ummmmmmmmmmm
for moi, this is an *interesting* deja vu type thread (i.e., regarding Spam)
it was JUST the other-day,
i email-ed my Jamaica/Lucea-mentor
that i was soon-come-ing down
i asked Ja-mentor, if they wanted me to bring them any Spam
here's their redacted email response (below):::
so,
they WANT Spam, fi sure
why..??.. they want it
why..??.. i offered to bring some
'cause this past-Summer,
while they were in USofA working on their MastersDegree
..they took-back to-Jamaica a bunch of Spam
i laugh-ed
and asked '.Why..??..'
dem-SAY:::>> '..USofA Spam tastes better .... it has a higher salt content, than what is offered/for-sale in Jamaica..'
p.s... for-YEARS, i've offer-ed to bring-down stuff
for my Ja-mentor
each-time dem-SAY::>> "..Nope.... don't need/want nutin.."
THIS is the FIRST-time they've said '..YES..' (with enthusiasm)

If there is a demand, I would think Jamaicans would have figured out how to satisfy it....SPAM isn't too hard a recipe to decipher(pork shoulder and ham) and made with JA piggies might even be palatable....

THAT is a fantastic *theory*
HOWEVER,
in my limited Ja-experiences
of shopping & window-shopping around the island
and
notice-ing all those China-man shops, stores, etc.,
and
read-ing the tags & labels on consumer goods
and
hearing & reading all the chat encourage-ing folks to ".Buy Jamaican."
it *seems* to my feeble-mind & pea-brain
that your theory is just a theory (unfortunately)
for example,
a significant number of staples & high-demand-ed thing-ys
come from someplace else
sugar ---- from Trinidad
bottled water --- from Trinidad
mariners (aka '.wife-beater.' tee-shirts) --- from China
produce ---- from other-places, NOT Jamaica
chicken meat ---- from USA
BUT that is a great *theory*
