back for another question,sorry in advance. Are travel authorizations to be done 5 days before arrival??? we are due to arrive Dec 29th... so I'm guessing we should do travel authorization on the 24th, is this correct?

Yes, the 24th is fine.
I completed mine within a couple of days of travel with no issue.
The approval is almost immediate as long as there's no problems with your authorization.
