Rob, what are the consequences of a visitor riding in a Jamaican friend's car casually and especially at a checkpoint if questions are asked?

This question has been asked a lot over the years. Although the parish boarder checkpoints ended yesterday, there is always the chance that you could be stopped.

The burden would be on you to "prove" that you are actually friends. Since you don't live here and are on a tourist visa, it would be next to impossible to prove anything more than a long time acquaintance.

You could possibly be fined for riding in a non red plate vehicle with the driver fined for acting as a taxi and get the vehicle confiscated.

At minimum you would be asked to get out of the car and you would have to find a legal ride from the checkpoint.

    Not worth the risk...
