Whistling Bird?
We are planning a fall vacation and usually stay at Idle Awhile. They are booked on the dates that we can travel so we have been looking at Whistling Bird. Can anyone that has stayed there give us some information on this resort.

Re: Whistling Bird?
I've stayed at WB for several years and it's my personal favorite so far but it depends what you like. I can compare it to where I've stayed which includes White Sands, Charela, a place on the cliffs the name of which I can't remember (catcha falling star I think), and Mariposa. WB is set in a jungle type atmosphere and isn't overly crowded on the beach. It is centrally located for both day and night activities. The on location chef that cooks the food for the breakfast lunch and dinner is good cooking authentic Jamaican food thereby making it really unnecessary to venture out if you don't want to while not sacrificing too much as far as experiences. The cool jungle setting does come with some tradeoffs however. The rooms may not be up to the standards of other hotels that some people are used to. Bugs have been known to get in the rooms and seem to prefer some people more than others. On thursday nights opposite WB is a night club, the Jungle, that gets very loud very late into the night/early morning. So, it really depends what you like, what you have been through as far as travelling, and how you want to spend your time. I love WB but my son has gotten bitten at night by the bugs which, like me, love the jungle atmosphere of the place. We put repellant on him at night and that has helped. The staff at WB has always been great. Again, I love the place but it depends on the individual. White Sands, for example, has a beach that is so packed during the day. But when we used to spend all day on the motor scooter driving around all day, it wasn't a problem. Let me know if you have any questions and I'm sure you'll have a nice time wherever you go.
