Re: LTU....Have you stayed?
Yahmon! My wife and I have been staying there for years after starting as beachies in the '80's and eventually making our way west to Sea Grape, Tensing Pen and Catcha. Then Catcha Gardens, which became LTU Gardens. Once we landed there we felt like we were home. The cottages are spread around lush gardens and the pool has a waterfall with a bench hidden under it. Nice cabana provides more shade. Some rooms have A/C; the others, ceiling fans. We like Ginger Lily. It's spacious and has A/C. It's up front so you're closer to the gates and the road and...the LTU Pub across the road on the cliffs. It's not as quiet as the other rooms but we like to be closer to what's happening. Almost everybody passes through LTU at some point and you can make good friends there. The food is excellent as are the drinks and the view. Finally, THE PEOPLE! Most of these folks have been around this place for years. Take some time to get to know them. They'll look out for you, give you the heads up when needed and become good friends. You know how it goes. Hope this helps.

Re: LTU....Have you stayed?
Yep, I was there last fall. The room was great, clean, very affordable (AC worked well and there was a fridge/coffee maker) and the grounds were well taken care of (even the pool area was in great shape). Luca, his family and staff (and even their dog..lol) are very friendly and helpful. I've always liked the LTU pub, long before I stayed there, so it's a great plus (food selection is varied and great tasting). I would say the only downside to the place is location, it's down the Westend a ways where you don't get alot of cabs passing by and there's not alot in walking distance if you like to hop around (what is around is Ricks, Lesa's bar, Ivans, Seastar and Wise Choice Supermarket).
If you go to this link, there's great pics and 360 panaramic views (in which some happened to be the room I stayed in)... https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...h_Jamaica.html

Sounds like a place we would enjoy! We have eaten at LTU many times but never stayed there. Would love to try it put on a future trip.

Re: LTU....Have you stayed?
Where do you go to swim? Is there any access to the sea nearby?

Re: LTU....Have you stayed?
I would just take a cab every few days down to Sun Beach for ocean time...

Re: LTU....Have you stayed?
Agreed. Sun Beach for beach days. LTU will call a cab for you if there's not already a driver hanging around the bar. Sun Beach has an old school vibe and we like that. However, there is water access at Ricks (walking distance) for floating, swimming and snorkeling. Just no sand. The best day for Ricks is Sunday just as they open the gate until people start showing up. My wife just reminded me that Travelers' is closer than Sun Beach and also is old school with the added benefits of a restaurant and DJ spinning tunes for lunch and happy hour.
