New online customs form

Just returned from a 2 week stretch and can say it works well. They have changed the process. Submit the online form and now you receive an email confirmation. Once you make your way to the immigration hall, you now need to go to the kiosks to the left, then a bespoke line to see an officer.

I'll also add I was surprised to see that since April they added XRay machines to the customs area. Once you claim your bags and proceed to exit, a couple of the lines now contain Xray machines and bags are randomly scanned. I assume this is to control the firearms situation, just a shame they do not put the money into more patrols between Jamaica and Haiti.

So you do not fill out any form on the plane?

Hasn't worked great for me. First time was user error - you need to fill it for each person and I only filled it out for me and listed wife's info in the traveling with section. Second time I received a confirmation for both of us and the system only showed one. In both cases, you just step aside, fill out the form by hand, and then go through.

I will say that they keep changing the process with no notice or instructions. We go twice a year and have not missed any trips, not even through covid. It used to be when you did the online form there was no confirmation, nor were you to go to the kisoks!

This has all changed with little to no communication. Now when you do the form you are emailed a confirmation. Additionally when you reach the arrivals hall, you DO go to the kisok, which takes your picture an prints the white slip you keep with your passport. No one seemed to pay much attention to the white slip, nor did they collect it when we departed.

When did you travel? Was this recently? Does an agent direct you one way or the other; left for the kiosk, straight for the counters?

Last month (October 13 arrival) ~ we told the agent we did the "on-line" form & he told us to just get in line, seeing our info was already in their system. Everyone in line with us, was told the same thing.
