Christmas Vacation 2023

Ahhhh…15 days in Negril…the most wonderful time of the year! Arrived 12/18 in the rain. Made a quick stop at Fontana’s in Mobay for distilled water. Arrived at Charela in time for lunch. Cloudy & overcast, we hit the beach. The sun came out later in the afternoon. The Christmas breeze arrived & the sea was angry for a few days. Lots of seaweed & sea life on the beach 12/20. Majority of businesses had the beach raked by the end of the day. Had a few rainy days, but all is good…we’re in Negril! Tried some different restaurants - Blue Skies ( ate here 3X during our stay - good house band!), Vinnie’s (finally got to see Alethea! We knew her from Chance’s for many years.) Very good food & view, and Murphy’s - fast service and GREAT seafood!
Sand gravity sucked us in and we just hung out on the beach all day. We did motivate a little and went on a daily walk. We ate lunches delivered to our beach chairs from the usual vendors - Anthony, “The Patty Man”, Dean the jerk pork man, Leighton “The Bread Guy”, and beach service from Charela. We walked down to Jaybird’s at Rondel to see our friend Delroy for sunset cocktails 12 out of 15 evenings. Always good beverages, good conversations, and laughs! Christmas dinner at Kuyaba was good as usual. The beach crowds arrived Wednesday. Good to see the hotels busy!
New Year’s Eve was a blast as always! Nice dinner at Charela and hit the beach for bonfires, music, Chinese lanterns, and fireworks! My husband wanted to change our dates for next year to arrive earlier to beat the crowds & go home for New Year’s. He changed his mind after we went on the beach. We’ve never been anywhere for New Year’s Eve like the excitement in Negril! Not changing our dates next year. Too much fun!
We left early 1/2 for the airport for 11am flight. We weren’t happy that the airlines screwed around several times with our departure time, especially having to leave at 7:30 am, but no traffic in Lucea or Hanover. The airport wasn’t busy in the morning. Had enough time to do a little shopping, grab a bite to eat at Club Mobay, and we were boarding our flight to Charlotte! See ya next Christmas!
