Many places are done or nearly done cleaning, but the places owned by the government haven't been touched yet.
The PM was in town Saturday and declared it an "emergency" in name only saying that it will take some time because of the new procurement process.
Some neighboring properties are going to take it upon themselves to do the necessary cleaning for the government.
This has been the standard operating procedure for any time the sea decides to clean itself, "emergency" or not. I haven't seen the government clean the Negril beach in the past 30 years.
A positive outcome is that the fishermen are reporting that the reefs have been cleared of algee and seaweed growth.
