Yearly trip with Markie deep into Red Ground

We were to meet Markie at 8 AM at Blossum's for breakfast. Well, Blossum's wasn't open yet and Markie was nowhere to be found. We had a small bag of more clothing for Markie, so about 8:15 we headed up the road toward Red Dragon and on to Markie's house. He was not there either so we left the small bag on his step which we hoped would be there when he returned home. We headed back to Blossum's for breakfast and she was open. Had a great salt fish and bean breakfast.. Markie showed up in time to join us. He was looking for us the whole time and we were on opposite roads to Red Ground like a dog chasing his tail. After breakfast we headed up the road to tank hill and got a few nice photos along with some ice cold water at a little store as it was already hot, hot, hot outside. We cut across some properties and Markie greeted many of his friends. We eventually got to the big tank on Westland Mountain Road. We ended our journey on the West End Road at Quality's Seafood (a great place for a fresh seafood dinner). We said our goodbyes to Markie and told him we would see him next year.
    Regards,
    Bob

Great pics! Have only been up in that area above Negril once, on my first trip in 2010. Wonderful views from up there.

Hi Bob! Just wondering where Blossums is? We will be there in February for a week and looks like a good breakfast spot. Funny, we were married at the TWater in 1987 and one of our favourite waitresses there was Blossum Brown from Red Ground. She would be in her late 50s or early 60s now. Any chance this could be her???

Yes, that could be her. She spells her name Blossum, not Blossom as I expected. Take the road that heads up to tank hill and Red Dragon. It is only up 50 yards or so on that road across from the Fire House. It is just a little hole in the wall. I think the front of the building is pink. She opens about 8:30. And I did see another tourist there last week although he said he spends 90 days in Negril yearly. I looked through old photos and could not find one of Blossum but do have one of Janet in front of her restaurant.

Thank you Bob! We will definitely go up there when we are in Negril. We have started spending all of our time in Treasure Beach as the vibe has changed in Negril and we find TB to be more reminiscent of the old Negril. But I have always wondered about Blossum. She was so good to us when we were there in the early 80s. And she would always buy our coffee for us as we always took home around 10 pounds of Blue Mountain coffee. She said she could get it cheaper than we could and did! She took care of us and our guests when we married and had the most beautiful smile. She was always happy and smiling and singing. It would be so great to see her again, and if it is not her then at least we will get a good feed!!!
