New restaurants in the past year

Heading down to negril next week and as always looking for somewhere new that we might try.
Last couple years we have been to Tip Top . Just wandered and love it. We do miss the wine with me place
    We have seen comments on
    La Tabarnic and Neil?s pickles.
Anyone familiar with either or a different suggestion ?

Neils Pickles is a small seaside bar located just past Llantrisant across from the hardware store on the short West End. It has a majority ex-pat and snowbird clientele.

Bar O' Tabernac is located in the old Gardenia Resort where Hotel Impossible had their show from Negril. Here is what they say:

    "New at Bar O' Tabarnac!

From Monday at noon, discover our authentic poutines with real cheese en grains from Quebec and our Quebec-style hot dogs as you like them!

Get ready for a typical feast that will make you travel straight to the heart of the beautiful province!

    Don't miss out!"

There is a new Ethiopian restaurant on the beach.

Of course as we have been featuring since last year with the reopening of Sunshine Village Plaza, Scotchies, Chester's Chicken and Mariella's Pizza.

Cafe Island Green (formerly Negril Top Diner) is also now at Sunshine Village Plaza!. Great food. Not new, but new to many, is also is Miss Penny's restaurant at Lighthouse Inn 2. Beautiful surroundings and great food. Family owned an operated for 25 years. A real hidden gem! Mr. Penny has his own secret rum punch recipe (and it's amazing). There is also a wonderful vegetarian menu..

Thanks to original Spanky's question post about Le Tabernac, we gave it a try yesterday. It's easy to find if you know where to look, but hard if you don't know. It's right beside Zion and across the road from Negril Palms. Big colourful Le Tabernac sign on the road. Way at the back is the pool and bar. It was service with a big smile and the Red Stripes were icy cold. The Quebec-style hot dogs were just hot dogs but the buns were to die for. The authentic Poutine was in fact authentic, with fresh cut Jamaican potatoes, cheese curds shipped from Canada, and the best gravy I've ever had. The special of the day was 2 hot dogs and 1 poutine for $1500J and the beers were $400. Almost rainforest like area that is very quiet. If you're looking for a place to hang and have a conversation but don't want to hear road noise, this might be the place.

Neil’s and Pickles (the name of the bar) has its name from Neil - who established the bar, and Catherine’s contribution of home canned pickles, the old fashioned way. She no longer sells food. Pat, who made the pizzas has retired. You are welcome to bring food from the outside to eat. It is next to Vinnie’s, where a full menu is available as well as a lively music scene several times a week.

Just before Pablo’s, which is across from Samsara, is My Father’s Place, a new food place. I haven’t eaten there but friends have and said it’s delicious food.

Have to second Miss Penny's. Reach before last we happened to stop in one evening while out for a walk and were pleasantly surprised. Very nice little spot, staff were friendly and helpful and had a nice little visit with Miss Penny. That night the chef had pizza on special so me and the Badnaz shared one and it was good but we also had a Marlin Sashimi that was incredible. Definitely would recommend if you're around that area.
