    Couples Swept Away

Thinking of trying out an AI after reading the sad news of all the changes in Negril. Had gone for 17 years and was so disappointed with all the changes 2 years ago. We always supported the locals but with getting older we just want the beautiful beach and some R and R. Can't do all the running around as I am recovering from surgery. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We have stayed there a few years ago. It was nice, the beach area is way better than Sandals. It is really pricey though. Out of our price range now.

We stayed at CSA for my 60th birthday and loved it! The resort was amazing! Beautiful beach, great food, very nice rooms and the service was top notch.

I'm not sure about what sad news you are referring to. Negril is here, it's great, it's busy, and still full of fun. Let us know what sad news and the bodies here can confirm or dispel any rumours.

If you are post surgery and truly looking for some time on a beach chair, might I suggest Couples Negril in Bloody Bay. Very nice stretch of beach. When it's windy and wavy on the main Seven Mile Beach, Bloody Bay is usually calm. More importantly if you are post surgery you can walk out in the ocean on a gentle slopping sandy bottom.

Maybe she is talking about the shoot out and take down of the Island-wide crime gang cornered downtown and eliminated by law enforcement last year. When the action started members of the crowd pulled out phones and recorded the whole thing for the internet. Within minutes it was over and everybody seemed to get on with their business. In some 40 years of travels to the Island I don't think I've ever felt threatened.

I'm not sure that police taking out several violent criminals is necessarily "sad news about all the changes in Negril". Let's have happy thoughts, let's talk about the reduction in violent crime across Jamaica as a whole. How about crime in Hanover and Westmoreland is down significantly and crimes against forgiven visitors is almost nil. (Daily Observer 2025-02-23 page 3). In fact the district of Ramble in Hanover recorded no crime since January 1st.

How about talking about the record breaking tourist numbers for 2024 and the fact that 2025 looks to surpass that record.

As I said above, Negril is here, it's great, it's busy, and still full of fun, but don't let your guard down and be careful!!

Not talking about crime but people and businesses we have met over the years that are either ill, passed away or closed.

Since my first trip in the early '80s (when I certainly didn't know a soul much less what it would be like there) Negril for me has always been about meeting people and making new friends. As I think back to my highlight moments in Negril a lot of the faces I see are no longer there. Some passed. Some moved to the hills. Some went a-foreign. Life goes on and when I make it back I look up old friends still there and find out wha' gwaan. At the same time I meet new people along the way and a few become friends. But I understand. If you just want to chill on the beach I agree with Brown. Bloody Bay is the spot.
