Uber in Negril
I tried it out a couple of days ago to see how it worked. The price to Red Dragon from beach road wasn't much more then a route taxi. The app is same app as in states. The only difference is they assign you a pin number which you give to the driver. You get pic of driver, license number and vehicle description. The vehicle is a red plate. The drivers are primarily private taxi drivers. They are driving Uber as a fill in between private drives to airports, tours ect on their down time. Both drivers said they only drive for Uber in Negril are and do not go through Uber for airport, tours ect. They are using Uber to help promote their business for airport transfers, ect. That part makes sense as they are making nothing on Uber as it is so cheap so I made sure to tip them. I think this will be a huge boost for more interaction between beach and the West End and easier to get to places. The average wait time during the day was 5-10 minutes. I was told there were 6 Ubers driving at moment but that will increase I am sure.
