    Coffee and Cambios

Heading down in a month staying at Coco. I get up very early and partner sleeps in. Where can I sneak out to at 5:30 to get some coffee to sip on the beach? With the little pots Coco offers I would be disturbing them too much.

Last reach the cambio in the drugstore at Boardwalk shopping was no longer open. Hate the ones by the rouundabout. Where are any cambios along the beach road? Is it practical to change money within the bank itself?

    Thanks for any help.

There is a coffee shop down the road a ways call Kiki's Koffee N Kones. They open at 7AM but it might be a bit of a hike from CoCo (Kiki works at CoCo too). I did see another coffee place that opened this year. It's in a fixed location but the shop is in a storage type travel trailer not too far from CoCo. They have coffee and rent bicycles including ebikes. I didn't catch the name but next time I'm down beach road I'll get a name and location for you.

The best rate for money exchange is probably FX Trader. It's in King's Plaza right beside Sunshine Village Mall. Not usually a line there. Maybe for Western Union but the money exchange is usually walk right up. Sunshine Mall has been re-born BTW. A very nice groceries store, a little bar, Scotchie's, Chester's Chicken, a nice pizza venue and a nice sitting area up top on the mezzanine deck, but I digress. ATM's might be your answer for getting local money. Load up a cash card and bring it down or a bank card with "Plus".

How do you use the ATM by the HiLo. Every time I've tried there has been a line of cars waiting to use it, or else it's out of money.

That is why I try to use cash and/or credit card (for resort and large purchases) and keep the ATM for backup. Does the bank there convert money? Is that practical or slower? I went by the FX Trader once last time down and there were a lot of people in line. Is there a separate line for exchange?

    G&K,

I usually park at Boardwalk Village Plaza w/ the new HiLo and walk into NCB to use the inside ATMs/ABMs, nice and air conditioned! Rarely have issues with the inside ATM/ABMs.

    Beach Tramp,

When I stay at CLP with my GF, I put the coffee maker in the Bathroom to make my early morning coffee.

    Enjoy,

Sometimes you have to choose your location. Scotia Bank has an ATM at Time Square. Band new machine and there is never a line. Also CIBC right across from Burger King. That location is getting a little more attention lately but you still might not find a line there.

Also, I'll let you on to a secret that I've been holding for a long time. When the plane lands at MBJ and you walk out the doors to meet your driver, head for an icy cold Red Stripe at the Groovy Grouper, leave you wife or someone with the bags and then walk back into the departures portion of the airport. Right at the very back of the airport, beside the area where the Club MoBay desk is, there is a Scotia Bank ATM there. It's very much off the beaten path so there is never a line. Load up with local cash there to cover you for a week or so.
