Emergency response protocols activated
As Tropical Storm Melissa is moving through the Caribbean with the potential of becoming a hurricane...
The Jamaican Government is closing non essential government offices as of 2pm today.
Utility companies, Hospitals etc. have implemented their emergency protocols.
**For anyone that's on the island visiting...please make sure to talk to your hotel representatives/managers or property hosts. They've been through this before and will know what's best for you & your safety.

Re: Emergency response protocols activated
I was in Negril and decided to come back early so I left yesterday and glad I did. I think it may be a rough few days coming...couple people told me flights are all full leaving. Hopefully they will add more as needed.

Re: Emergency response protocols activated
This is the account of how Rob experienced Gilbert in 1988, without any prior warning back in the day:

Now there is plenty of prior warning and preparations are possible. For visitors staying away or getting out if possible seems the smart choice. This Melissa is no joke thing. Am hoping for the best possible outcome for Negril and the whole of Jamaica.

Re: Emergency response protocols activated
Please keep everyone in Jamaica in your prayers and anyone in the path of Melissa.🙏
This is currently scary as H*LL and will only be getting worse in the next little while.
I miss Rob somehow always knowing exactly how an incoming storm/hurricane was going to impact the island...he had a weird sixth sense about it.
