Any boots on the ground now?

We are scheduled to fly into MoBay on Tuesday. So far American Airlines says it is a go. We normally stay on the west end but it seems it has been hit harder than the beach area. Charlela Hotel thinks they will be up and running by Monday and am considering a week there if the west end isn't up and running. Also, are restaurants up and operating? Social media posts make it seem as if there is no food left in the country, which has me a bit puzzled. Has electricity been restored anywhere in Negril? Any first hand info is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Bob

    Bob,

JPS Power Restoration schedule dated Oct 29th subject to change.

Negril is schedule for power restoration Nov 13 - 16.

Westend was hit harder than Beach Road.

I have a call in to a friend in Negril for an update on the West End.

Right now, unless they have a generator with fuel, no AC, no fan and no refrigeration.

    Update to follow.

This has turned out to be a fake schedule.
There is so much misinformation out there...it's annoyingly crazy.

    Another note:

Throp said in yesterdays update that power on the beach road estimated between now and next week, but for Sav it would be 3 months best case scenario. Someone from JPS told him that and it was because substations were mashed up. This site is having new high res photos added daily https://storms.ngs.noaa.gov/storms/m...4515/-78.22019 you can see where the solar field just East of Sav was destroyed

Respectfully - unless you are coming with skills or supplies right now stay home. Right now isn't the time to vacation in Jamaica especially out west

Well I got an email from White Sands and they said they're hoping to open by month's end (they'll notify when open over social media). I then texted with Andre, from Luxurious Carib, and he said the road is open from Sangster Airport to Negril but down to one lane in some areas, so the drive is slow. He said his company is busy now, but just with transfers out of Jamaica.

They need the revenue we bring now more than ever. We are awaiting room confirmation and then are booking flights. They need help rebuilding their homes, but there are no supplies (Concrete blocks, plywood, tin, tarps). What is available has gone up in cost (supply vs demand). It will take time for shipments to arrive. Jamaicans can't wallow around at home waiting for supplies, they need something to do other than sitting around in destruction, some normalcy. Hopefully all the aid in Jamaica and on its way along with the $150M Jamaica has coming from hurricane insurance will make it to dem people.
