MoBay MegaMart Gone

I just read that the MoBay Megamart was ravaged in the storm and permanently closed. That was my favorite stop after the airport. I used to pick up a case of 'Coke-No Sugar', local rum pints (for my bubba cup on the beach) and different red stripes (a dozen or so), snax and hit their ATM for Jamaican cash. Before I found the MegaMart, years ago, I used to stop at the Scotia bank in Lucea and hit the store in Green Island.

So my question, what is the best path forward for ATM cash and decent priced room supplies?

HiLO/NCB bank at the boardwalk?

I'd luv to hear other boardies preferences and options that have made the trek down in the last month or so... (I won't be down this year til June)

The road that Megamart is on (or was on) is called W Green Ave. Just have your driver go up that road passed Megamart for a few blocks there is a new store called Grand Depot. It kinda like Megamart but on a smaller scale. Progresive would still be my first pick but if your looking for something different. Another little gem is the grocerie store in the new plaza that went up beside Harmony Park. The Plazza is called Harbor City Shopping Mall. Very nice grocerie store and a nice mall to shop. Most people just want to get a couple of thing and then get to Negril so a quick stop at Progresive and then stop at the Texeco gas station in Fairview Plazza on the way out. Scotchie's/ Chesters Chicken is right there and a Scotia Bank ATM.

I switched over to the new HiLo when they opened. Loved Megamart and sad to see what happened but I found the last couple years in particular, the traffic in Mobay could get nasty so the quicker I got out of there the better. The NCB bank in Boardwalk Village is pretty good as far as wait times. I gave up on Scotia years ago waiting forever in town to use it.

I agree with fargoman. I want to get to Negril as soon as possible and get out of Montego Bay. We get settled in at our resort then head to the HiLo. It's doesn't hurt that our resort, Country Country, is right across the street from the HiLo. Very handy!

I agree with fargoman as well. I agree with him most of the time.
