Negril is still affordable, but you definitely need to do some homework on the prices if that is important. When I am by myself, I can get by for 30-50$ a day. Complimentary breakfast at hotel, 5$ app at firefly, slug some 3$ beers and find an evening meal for 15-20$...Why am I not living there? lol

I wonder if prices have increased due to cost increases post Hurricane Melissa. Economics 101 supply and demand. If supply chain has slowed and/or decreased, it likely costs more to be delivered. Prices have to follow to keep profit margins. I have no proof that this is happening. It's just a thought.

I only had a couple of photos from October (just before the hurricane) to show...but the cost of groceries is astounding.
They're a bit cheaper from the farmers but...take a look...
The lettuce sat flat in my palm...

Anybody know the current prices of these two "benchmark" items? . Thanks!
I agree that prices have gone up for Food and Beverages ! Got back from 10 day Trip a couple of weeks ago. I really don't know the reasons ? Probably the Hurricane.. Much devastation there therefore No Road trips last reach.. Stayed on the Cliffs !

I?ve always chased a good deal even when prices where cheap.
I?ll be back in Negril in 38 days and again in November.
Sometimes I feel it?s all most offensively high. What and where are the locals eat and buying??
The cheapest beer is in my fridge, i guess?
Firefly, Coletta's, Miss Sonia's..ect ect Keep that list going! I for 1 need it.
have no issue with handing cash to anyone for good food & drinks it just has to make sense?
I support locals and Ja owners it?s just hard to eat a chicken that?s move up over 100% it a short period..
This for us. I would go out more, the alternative is to sit on my deck (Catcha) and drink the Red Stripes I bought at the grocery store. Not as fun yes, but at the same time still enjoyable!

Yeah, I have a pic of the menu at Best of the West where 1/2 chicken was $13 US on my trip in Feb 2020 (1 Month before covid). It's been an upward spiral every since...
