Water temps
Coming in January 1st to the cliffs! To anyone there now, how has the swimming, water temps etc in the LTU area?
-
Snorkeling off of LTU is off the hook!

Subsurface water temps vary from about 78 to 84 degrees (winter to summer). Surface temperatures, especially in the shallow areas along the beach, will be a little warmer. The cliff areas would be more like the deeper water.

We are staying at Xtabi right now; been out snorkelling every day; and have been scuba diving too.
Water temp is 82-84F at the surface; and 82F down at 60 feet below. Our dive computers are new, and accurately calibrated - depths and temps are bang on
You will not find any warmer water temps this time of the year on the Western Hemisphere; just get in da water, get wet, and enjoy!

I would check for surface ice first! Don't worry, you will be in Jamaica, nice and warm. The one thing you want to assess before swimming off of the cliffs is if the sea has a chop on it, do you have the swimming skills to deal with that. Swells or rough sea can make it tricky to get out of the water. On a calm day, a confident swimmer will enjoy the sublime experience of swimming off of the west end cliffs.
