I am not aware of the intricacy of the review but I am aware of the policy. If you are staying at RIU and you have trouble with your safe AFTER YOU HAVE LOCKED IT as in you verified it shut and locked. Maintenance cannot access your safe for you even upon verifying you are the real hotel guest. There is a 2 (engineer)/ property/security manager sign off recorded sheet required for anyone to help you with a locked safe. Most people I hear of are complaining of a wait to access their safes and long wait times due to this policy when safes at the RIU's malfunction as sometimes an engineer has to come in off shift from home if there are not two head engineers onsite (such as 11pm shift). Also those of you that have stayed there know that there is an emergency lock that occurs if you miskey your safe 3 times on the rooms with digital safes at Tropical Bay requiring managers or security heads.
